PCIA, HetNet Forum asks FCC to streamline review processes for DAS, small cell deployments

 Posted by on

PCIA and the HetNet Forum submitted comments in the Federal Communications Commission’s infrastructure siting Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM). Among other things, PCIA recommended the FCC streamline its environmental and historic review processes for Distributed Antenna Systems and small cell deployments. This proceeding affords the FCC the opportunity to take meaningful, impactful steps to speed broadband deployment and investment. Mobile broadband drives innovation, creates jobs, and improves the quality of our lives—but these benefits cannot be achieved without the deployment of robust wireless infrastructure. By removing barriers to the deployment of newer technologies like DAS and small cells, and refining its rules for collocations, the FCC can facilitate greater coverage and capacity of wireless broadband networks. Taking these and other steps to improve wireless facility siting policies will further accelerate broadband deployment for the benefit of all Americans.
