AT&T, SAC Wireless and Corning teamed up to present a case study on the DAS installation at the Chicago Merchandise Mart. The landmark building had significant challenges due to the size of the building as well as its age and building materials. Installing a Distributed Antenna System in a 4-million-square-foot facility means a lot of large numbers: the AT&T-led DAS consists of three carriers, 200,000 linear feet of fiber, 640 remotes and more than 1,000 antennas. "The size of the Merchandise Mart required significant BTS equipment by all carriers," commented Clint Lamb, director of DAS and Small Cell Services at SAC Wireless. The complex installation was made even more challenging by space challenges, changing priorities among the venue owner in order to meet their tenants' needs as anchor tenants signed leases with venue owner. Power supply was also a challenge. Interestingly, the project continues to evolve as the building itself continues to evolve. You can watch the video here. You can see a PowerPoint presentation here. Thanks to SAC Wireless, AT&T and Corning for presenting at HetNet Expo 2014.
