Distributed Antenna Systems as the fourth utility

 Posted by on

Water, gas and electricity are considered the three utilities. At BICSI's fall expo this year, The DAS Forum and its member companies proposed that Distributed Antenna Systems be considered the fourth utility. Wireless connectivity for data and voice applications are an important consideration when deciding where to live and where to office. Imagine a renter who's just signed a six-month lease finding out she has a poor cellular connection inside her office suite. She won't be so quick to renew that lease. Because DAS deployments are better suited for some venues than others, it is important for building owners to work with trusted systems integrators, neutral-host providers and wireless operators to make sure the DAS deployment is a good investment for everyone involved. Thanks to American Tower's Rick Foster, Connectivity Wireless' Bryce Bregen and TE Connectivity's Bob Salutric for delivering such a great presentation.
