Even after event is over, the DAS stays
Distributed Antenna System deployments are often associated with large-scale events. The announcements of DAS installations in Indianapolis for this year's Super Bowl are a perfect example. Each wireless service provider knew there would be a lot of people uploading video and photos to Facebook, etc., and so built out the extra capacity for the event. Today's news story in the Chicago Tribune points out wireless operators have added DAS to the McCormick Place in anticipation of this weekend's NATO summit. But you know what is great about a DAS? It stays even after the event has passed. I was in Indianapolis earlier this month at an event, and the wireless coverage at the hotel and convention center were great, no doubt due to the DASes deployed for the Super Bowl. --Tracy Ford, Director, The DAS Forum at PCIA -- The Wireless Infrastructure Association
